Influence of Silica Functionalization on Water Sorption and Thermochemical Heat Storage of Mesoporous SBA-15/CaCl₂ Composites

SBA-CaCl 2 (SCa) composites with high CaCl content were prepared using the non-functionalized and methyl-and carboxyl-functionalized mesoporous SBA-15 supports their thermochemical heat storage (TCHS) performance have been investigated a TG/DSC system coupled humidity generator. This paper presents influence of silica (SBA-15) functionalization on structural-textural properties SCa consequently water sorption performances. All exhibited enhanced uptake compared to pure due well dispersion salt particles in SBA pores. Non-functionalized composite demonstrated highest rate capacity all functionalized composites. The Fickian constant (k) conversion (d?/dt) determined for hydration cycles revealed that is mainly controlled by intrinsic reaction between water. Best performing stable (317 ± 6 kJ.mol-1 CaCl2) (7 0.15 × 10-5 s-1) five successive at 30% relative (RH).
